Reuniting Pets and their People: A Community Effort

Facilitating successful reunions between missing pets and their families is a central mission of Winona Area Humane Society – and it all begins with getting information shared as quickly as possible.

This year, WAHS partnered with PawBoost, a free service with the largest lost & found pet database. Every stray animal that comes to WAHS is automatically shared in the database, reducing reliance on social media as the sole source of information and getting more animals seen.

Whether you’re a current pet owner or a community member, we urge everyone to join the PawBoost network so you’re prepared if you ever lose a pet, find a pet, or want to join the effort in getting pets home to their families!

Here’s what every person can do:

  • Sign up for PawBoost alerts via email

  • Download the mobile PawBoost app

  • If you’re on Facebook, like the Minnesota - Lost Dogs, Cats & Pets - PawBoost page so their Facebook posts show up for you. This is the page where our stray intakes are shared.

  • Browse the Pawboost website and blog posts for a whole host of useful information

  • Frequently keep an eye on recently shared lost and found pets in your area

The more people who are in the network, the better the odds. This is something that everyone can do to be an animal advocate, save shelter space, and — most importantly — help pets get back home safely. Check out the graphics below for how to begin!
