We do not have a veterinarian on staff at WAHS. For medical care and emergencies with a pet, there are several nearby options:

Low-Cost Spay & Neuter Options

  • A generous donor allocated funds to help struggling pet owners and caretakers spay/neuter their cats through the Winona Farm, Feral, & Stray Spay/Neuter Hotline. Click here to learn how the Fund works!

  • The Minnesota Spay and Neuter Assistance Program (MNSNAP) is a traveling service offering affordable spay & neuter surgeries across Minnesota. They occasionally visit Winona and surrounding areas. Check out their website to learn more.

From the MNSNAP website: “Our mission is to end the suffering and death of Minnesota cats and dogs due to overpopulation by providing both high-quality, affordable and accessible spay and neuter services to those in need and animal welfare education in the communities we serve.”

  • From their website, “Purple Cat Vet is a HVHQLC (high-volume-high-quality-low-cost) veterinary clinic providing spays, neuters, and select vaccinations to cats in Northwest Wisconsin and Eastern Minnesota.” Learn about their locations, pricing, and process on purplecatvet.com.
