Information: female, purebred Great Pyrenees, approximately 6 months old, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, will be spayed as part of adoption once old enough

Not a good fit around cats or small animals
Previously lived with her sister, but hasn’t been around other dogs
Likely could get along with proper introductions
Good with older children and previously lived around younger children as well

About Poppy:
Get ready for some classic puppy energy in a BIG, fluffy form - meet Poppy, a new arrival looking for her next place to explore! Poppy is a snuggly, goofy young pup who’s all smiles and happiness. She LOVES meeting everyone and showing them her bubbly personality.
Rather than the drive to be a livestock guardian like most members of her breed, Poppy’s true desire is to be a family dog - a guardian of her people. She has a love of cuddles, really any toy, and daily adventure walks. Poppy walks surprisingly well for her age, only occasionally deviating because she wants to meet other dogs along the way. She’s highly treat-motivated and picks up on new skills & tricks fairly quickly.
While she’ll catch many peoples’ eye, it’s important for Poppy to find the right fit home for her long-term wellbeing. First and foremost, she’s expected to be over 100lbs when fully grown and therefore needs plenty of space. She’s considered a high energy pup and will also require daily enrichment and activities to get her energy out.
Because Poppy’s in the midst of her growth process, her growth plates need to close before being spayed. This will be occurring over the course of several more months, so we’re hoping for Poppy to find her forever home now. Poppy can leave the shelter if there are no other unfixed animals in the home, and as long as her family’s willing to transport Poppy to and from our partner vet when her spay is scheduled.
