About Oliver:
Oliver is a very sweet, outgoing, gentle, and extremely friendly fellow. He hasn’t met a person he didn’t like and adores anyone ready to give him attention.
Coming in as an abandoned dog who was never reclaimed, everything we know about Oliver has been learned through observation while he’s been in our care. The first quality caretakers noted was his immediate friendliness and happy-go-lucky attitude. He’s up for whatever activity you want to do, as long as he’s getting love, attention, or treats — or all three!
Oliver is 100% potty trained and demonstrates an aptitude for quick learning, especially when treats or the praise of a person is the reward. He has his basic skills down and recently ventured into learning how to swim.
Although he’s a large boy around 70lbs, Oliver certainly doesn’t realize his size. In fact, he believes he’s a small dog! He tries to climb into laps or gets the hops in excitement.
Oliver loves his daily walking adventures, as long as it’s followed by time to relax and be near his people. He turns into a couch potato after one good, long walk. While out on his strolls Oliver seems curious about other dogs, and he’s always on a watch for squirrels. He can pull rather strongly when he sees a squirrel so an adopter with good leash handling skills is a must. Besides that occasional occurrence, Oliver displays great leash manners overall and is a volunteer favorite.
The yellow jolly egg holds a special place in Oliver’s heart as his favorite toy, but if given the choice, he’ll choose time with people over playtime.
Because we haven’t seen Oliver in a home we can’t speak on how he’d do with cats, but a monitored and guided introduction is the best way to go.
