About Crab Rangoon:

Crab Rangoon’s shelter journey began at a few months old when he was found in a feral cat colony. He and his litter were brought to safety at just the right time and settled into a foster home to work on socialization. They eventually returned to the shelter and most of the siblings began trusting visitors, but Crab Rangoon experienced greater difficulty. Several weeks later, we discovered why.

Over time, a polyp had begun to grow in his ear, causing great discomfort and impacting his ability to feel at ease. Cats are known for hiding their pain and Crab was no different, so the polyp went undetected until an urgent care visit.

After the polyp was removed and he recovered, Crab’s personality was like night and day. He began forming strong bonds with his medical team caretakers, showing off his affectionate personality and love of pets. He now approaches every visitor to check them out and eventually request attention. Crab Rangoon also gets along wonderfully with other cats and may need a buddy in the home to feel most comfortable.

At first we were unsure what Crab’s future would look like, but since his incredible transformation there’s no doubt he’ll make a loving companion in a patient home without a ton of activity. Interacting with a few familiar faces will help him develop a baseline of trust and understanding over time.

For the special individual or household who reads this profile, please consider filling out an application to meet Crab Rangoon. He’s nearing one year of his shelter journey and deserves that next step – becoming a beloved family member.
