Please join the Winona Area Humane Society and Hy-Vee at Signatures Event Center for the 24th annual “An Affair for the Animals!”
From 6:00 - 9:00PM on November 8th, guests will enjoy a delightful evening of wine & beer tasting, silent auction bidding, and raffle prizes. All proceeds go towards supporting animals in the Humane Society’s care.
This year the Winona Area Humane Society has achieved great successes in animal welfare: building an ambitious team of staff and volunteer caretakers, positively restructuring the volunteer program, making great strides in community reconnection and donor relations, and charting a course to place over 200 animals in forever homes by the end of December.
With that said, 2024 has also presented unique challenges amidst a worsening national animal overpopulation crisis. Surrenders and stray animals are at an all-time high; as the only shelter in the Winona area, WAHS is often the only place for them to go. A lot goes into running a Humane Society each day, and essential financial, structural, and technological upgrades are necessary to meet the moment.
This information is shared not to cause unnecessary alarm, but to emphasize how much YOUR help is increasingly needed. The WAHS team is as committed as ever to house, care for, and adopt as many community animals as we have space for - but it is impossible to do it alone. The community’s continued support is crucial.
All proceeds from “An Affair for the Animals” ensure that WAHS can continue its mission long-term. Whether you attend the event, donate basket items, or provide funds towards the auction, every action helps make the event a success. The community’s homeless animals are counting on you!
