About Loki:
Meet Loki, one of four very special littermates who first arrived at WAHS in December 2022. All four were initially fighting off ringworm - and also tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). FeLV significantly lengthened Loki’s battle with the pesky condition, which cleared up about 6 months ago. Now she’s reached the most important time in her life - finding a forever home!
Of the sisters, it takes the most dedication to earn Loki’s confidence. She’s mindful to guard her gentle heart and spends time to make sure new visitors can be trusted. Once you get over that threshold and show Loki that you’re a friend, her walls come down. Around familiar people, Loki shows off a personality similar to her sisters. She adores flopping onto the floor and getting some good rolls in, ideally followed by back scratches. Loki thoroughly enjoys high-value treats, which also help her build trust. She’s not as playful as her sisters, preferring to lounge the day away on cat towers and cozy beds.
Due to Loki’s positive FeLV status, she’ll need a bit more specific home than the average cat. Loki will benefit from a calm, patient owner with FeLV experience, or at least the willingness to learn what it’s all about. Attached at the bottom of this description are a few informational articles about the disease, but we suggest additional research.
It’s encouraged to get educated on the realities of the disease, without being overly fearful about considering FeLV adoption. While it’s true that FeLV+ cats can have a shorter lifespan, it’s equally possible for them to live out a long, healthy life. Because Loki’s FeLV status was identified in early kittenhood and she’s been safely indoors since then, her future is promising. None of the sisters have encountered any significant health concerns, and they even enjoyed a months-long foster home stay. Just by looking at them, you wouldn’t know they’re different from any other cats!
Loki has plenty of affection and joy to provide in a calm, quiet home. We ask adopters to please consider meeting her if you have another FeLV+ feline or can adopt two of the sisters, since cat companionship helps Loki feel safe. She deserves to experience the best life in a forever home with people who are understanding of her initial shyness and love her.
If you’re interested in meeting Loki (or her sisters), please fill out the form below. Once you submit the application, we’ll get in touch to discuss the specifics and arrange a visit. Thank you for your consideration!
