Francine
Status: available for adoption or foster!
Information: female, black, Domestic Long Hair, UTD on vaccinations, approximately 7 months old, FIV-, FeLV+, spayed
Being FeLV+, Francine must find an indoor-only home either without other cats (it does not transmit to other species of pets or humans), or with fellow FeLV+ cats. She’d be a great choice to go home with an FeLV+ buddy.
Francine thrives when in the company of a feline friend
About Francine:
Meet Francine, a stunner of a teenaged kitten who’s ready to find HOME at last! Francine arrived with her littermates after being born in an outdoor cat colony. She found herself in the middle of the social butterfly spectrum between her siblings, not one to immediately seek out attention but also not one to turn away from pets.
Over time, her personality has shown through significantly and now she adores attention from her human friends. Once Francine senses your trustworthiness, she looooves pets: belly rubs, back scratches, chin scratches - she can’t get enough! She’ll let out a single, long meow when she wants to be pet and stands high on those tippy toes for maximum enjoyment.
Francine likes the companionship of cat friends as well. She enjoys the company for afternoon nap time and evening shenanigans, complete with playful bouts of energy. Francine can find fun with pretty much any cat toy available.
Along her journey, Francine did test positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). This is a disease that’s only contagious among cats and is not transmissible to humans, dogs, or other pet species. While Francine’s FeLV status means she’ll need a bit more specific home without FeLV- cats, it’s important to know the facts vs. myths of the disease and that it affects each cat differently. Many who adopt FeLV+ cats discover that it is their calling, and often continue to adopt these special souls who desperately need loving homes.
If you don’t currently have cats or need a buddy for a fellow FeLV+ cat, we urge you to consider Francine or her cat bay companions. Each of them deserve to find that special someone who will adore them for all their days. We encourage potential adopters to do some reading on FeLV from reputable sources (examples linked below) and, please, contact us to discuss any questions you may have! Even if you end up not being able to adopt Francine, you may know someone who could.
