About Calypso:

Meet Calypso, one of four very special littermates who first arrived at WAHS in December 2022. All four were initially fighting off ringworm - and also tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). FeLV significantly lengthened Calypso’s battle with the pesky condition, which cleared up about 6 months ago. Now she’s reached the most important time in her life - finding a forever home!

Calypso is a little bundle of sunshine. She’s always ready to greet new friends, both feline and human alike. Calypso’s favorite way of showing her excitement is by rolling around and around on the ground while she awaits well-deserved belly rubs. Other likes include being brushed, checking out alllll the new toys, getting pets, and hanging out with her sisters. Calypso’s frequently at the center of cuddle puddles when it’s time for naps.

While Calypso would get along with another FeLV+ cat (or her sisters), she’s confident and comfortable enough to go home as a single pet too. She’s had mixed reactions around dogs, so it really depends on each individual meeting.

Due to Calypso’s positive FeLV status, she’ll need a bit more specific home than the average cat. Calypso will benefit from an owner with FeLV experience, or at least the willingness to learn what it’s all about. Attached at the bottom of this description are a few informational articles about the disease, but we suggest additional research.

It’s encouraged to get educated on the realities of the disease, without being overly fearful about considering FeLV adoption. While it’s true that FeLV+ cats can have a shorter lifespan, it’s equally possible for them to live out a long, healthy life. Because Calypso’s FeLV status was identified in early kittenhood and she’s been safely indoors since then, her future is promising. None of the sisters have encountered any significant health concerns, and they even enjoyed a months-long foster home stay. Just by looking at them, you wouldn’t know they’re different from any other cats!

Calypso has plenty of love and joy to provide a family. We ask adopters to please consider meeting her - especially if you have another FeLV+ feline! She deserves to experience the best life in a forever home with people who adore her.

If you’re interested in meeting Calypso (or her sisters), please fill out the form below. Once you submit the application, we’ll get in touch to discuss the specifics and arrange a visit. Thank you for your consideration!
