About Artemis:

Meet Artemis, one of four very special littermates who first arrived at WAHS in December 2022. All four were initially fighting off ringworm - and also tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). FeLV significantly lengthened Artemis’ battle with the pesky condition, which cleared up about 6 months ago. Now she’s reached the most important time in her life - finding a forever home!

Upon first meeting Artemis, she frequently hangs back and can seem initially shy. However, after a few minutes of getting to know new friends, a swift change occurs. She’ll flop onto her back and roll around with happiness, then ask for attention! Artemis’ trust-building in a foster home really helped her come out of her shell and that trend has continued in the shelter. Every day her playful, friendly spirit is on display. Artemis gets along wonderfully with her sisters and will need a feline companion for life (either Loki, Echo, or another FeLV+ cat).

Due to Artemis’ positive FeLV status, she’ll need a bit more specific home than the average cat. Artemis will benefit from an owner with FeLV experience, or at least the willingness to learn what it’s all about. Attached at the bottom of this description are a few informational articles about the disease, but we suggest additional research.

It’s encouraged to get educated on the realities of the disease, without being overly fearful about considering FeLV adoption. While it’s true that FeLV+ cats can have a shorter lifespan, it’s equally possible for them to live out a long, healthy life. Because Artemis’ FeLV status was identified in early kittenhood and she’s been safely indoors since then, her future is promising. None of the sisters have encountered any significant health concerns, and they even enjoyed a months-long foster home stay. Just by looking at them, you wouldn’t know they’re different from any other cats!

Artemis has plenty of love and joy to provide a family. We ask adopters to please consider meeting her if you have another FeLV+ feline or can adopt two of the sisters, since Artemis feels most comfortable with cat companionship. She deserves to experience the best life in a forever home with people who adore her.

If you’re interested in meeting Artemis (or her sisters), please fill out the form below. Once you submit the application, we’ll get in touch to discuss the specifics and arrange a visit. Thank you for your consideration!
