A little about Poppy:

Poppy’s shelter journey began as a scared semi-feral kitten, hesitant to trust humans and constantly on guard. Thanks to the help of a patient foster home over the last few weeks, Poppy has blossomed into her true self with a personality as enchanting as her looks.

Poppy is approximately 6 months old, medically up-to-date, and spayed. It’s taken her a few months to feel safe around people, but she’s been so brave through it all and now realizes that building trust isn’t so bad. In fact, once she made the connection that people were the way to her favorite food and treats, Poppy’s socialization quickly progressed! She was also helped along by her feline foster brother whom she’s developed great affection for.

Because Poppy bonds so strongly to other cats, she’ll need a cat friend in the home. A confident feline presence helps Poppy feel safer and also shows her how to ‘cat’ in new situations. With that said, Poppy does show resource-guarding behaviors towards other cats when high-value treats are involved (this is an effect of her feral days), which is something for her new people to be aware of during mealtime.

Poppy’s personality most closely matches with a home on the quieter side, probably without young children or lots of commotion. Despite her strides in confidence building, she still scares easily and takes time to warm up. Once she’s comfortable Poppy adores belly rubs, head scratches, playing, and cuddle time with other cats. She has the loudest purr motor that she uses to express her contentment!

There’s still more to go on Poppy’s journey, but she’s ready to make the next big leap and settle into a patient, loving forever home. Please consider filling out an application to meet stunning Poppy!
