About Artemis, Calypso, Loki, and Echo:

Meet the four Mythical Sisters! These four gorgeous littermates have been in the Winona Area Humane Society’s care since December 2022. When they arrived, all four were fighting off terrible cases of ringworm. We soon found out that in addition to ringworm, they also tested positive for FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus). FeLV significantly lengthened their battle with the pesky condition, which has since cleared. And now is the most important time in their lives - when they can FINALLY find homes!

With that said, they will need a bit more specific family than the average cat. If possible, we are trying to find a place for them that preferably already has experience with FeLV, or is at least willing to learn the ups and downs of the disease.

People who adopt FeLV+ cats are extra special. They have a good, strong heart, and have known the loss of cats far too young. Some people who’ve adopted FeLV+ cats have also seen the longevity that is possible with cats with this condition. Statistically, FeLV+ cats on average live for around 2.5 years (likely longer in a home). The longevity is unknown and depends on each cat; but what IS known is that adopting an FeLV+ cat is truly an act of life-saving heroism. It isn’t easy, but it makes a measurable difference in a cat’s quality of life. Artemis, Calypso, Echo, and Loki have already beaten the odds as they’re 2 years old, thriving, and have not encountered any serious health concerns.

These four do not need to all go together, but they would be happy to go in pairs if possible. They all love spending time with each other, and they’re thriving in a foster home right now.

Having come into our shelter with ringworm as kittens, these cats have now been with us for almost two years.  And while we don’t know the time they have left, we want it to be the BEST time of their lives - in a home, with a family that adores each of them.

If you are interested in meeting Artemis, Calypso, Loki, and Echo, please fill out one of the forms below. Once you submit the application, our Cat Director will get in touch to discuss the specifics and arrange a visit. We’ve also linked several articles below about FeLV and what caring for an FeLV+ cat entails.
